After all, we equip numerous Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG GT3s in international customer motorsport with our KW Competition motorsport components - and KW's suspension expertise is even in demand for Mercedes-Benz AMG Black Series models.
The perfect setup at the touch of a button ...
If you are one of the first Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG enthusiasts and your "Gullwing" does not yet have an adaptive suspension, you will find an intelligent retrofit solution at KW. For you, we have combined the adaptive KW DDC ECU coilover suspension from our KW iSuspension product range with the KW Hydraulic Lift System. With the DDC ECU coilover suspension from KW, you can not only lower your AMG SLS between 10 and 35 millimetres on request, but also choose between the KW driving modes "Comfort", "Sport" or "Sport+". If you wish, you can even use the iPhone app to adjust the KW dampers separately on the front and rear axle according to your requirements. You don't need a technician or tools to do this or have to take your SLS AMG onto a lift.
The free KW DDC App in combination with our optionally available W-LAN module gives you the possibility to adjust the KW suspension directly and the electronically adjustable KW dampers react immediately to your settings. The scope of delivery of the KW DDC ECU coilover suspension includes a discreet KW DDC button for unobtrusive installation in the dashboard. This allows you to select the KW DDC driving modes "Comfort", "Sport" and "Sport+" directly from the cockpit. The KW DDC button changes the colour to match the optional KW DDC APP.
For example, if you are driving your SLS AMG on bad roads or on an excursion through an old town on cobblestones, the "Comfort" mode is your ideal companion. Bumps in the road are damped harmoniously and the KW DDC ECU coilover suspension automatically adapts to the speed. If you increase the speed, the damper characteristics change automatically and the suspension becomes firmer. In "Sport" mode, you benefit from more direct handling and the SLS AMG is much more demanding to drive than in Comfort mode. If you switch to "Sport+" mode on mountain passes, for example, the SLS will impress you with its uncompromising driving behaviour.

With the adaptive KW DDC ECU coilover suspension with the KW HLS Lift System, you can raise your lowered Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG to safely drive over obstacles such as speed bumps, speed humps, railway crossings, construction sites, garage and underground car park entrances. The KW Lift Kit allows your "Gullwing" to be raised hydraulically by up to 45 millimetres on both axles. For this purpose, a hydraulic cylinder is mounted between the spring plate and the spring on each KW aluminium coilover strut. The great advantage of the hydraulic system is that there is no compression (movement) of the extended cylinder unit (no unwanted additional suspension) during driving, which means that the driving dynamics of your Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG are not affected. The scope of delivery for all HLS Lift Kit variants also includes a control unit that is connected to the on-board electronics. As a result, your SLS AMG is automatically lowered again from a certain speed to the original depth of the KW coilover suspension selected by you.

KW Dynamic Damping Control ECU Individuality at the touch of a button.
The KW DDC coilovers are the intelligent suspension solution for retrofitting from the KW iSuspension product range. They combine the advantages of an adaptive damping system with a vehicle-specific sporty and harmonious damper characteristic with a stylish and sporty lowering. The adaptive KW coilovers are available in the KW DDC ECU version with optional app control for vehicles without actively controlled standard suspension and as KW DDC Plug & Play version for selected vehicle models with adaptive standard suspension.
The adaptive KW DDC ECU coilovers allow a stepless lowering in the tested adjustment range. Thanks to the dirt-resistant trapezoidal thread and the polyamide threaded ring, the stepless lowering can be varied quickly and easily even after years. Depending on the vehicle, lowering takes place either on the wheel-guiding KW stainless steel suspension struts or, in the case of non-wheel-guiding double-wishbone rear axles, on the rear axle height adjustment. No matter where in the world, sporty drivers, car manufacturers and tuners rely on our KW technology "Made in Germany".
Every KW coilover suspension is subjected to extensive load tests during production and is developed and manufactured directly at our company headquarters in Fichtenberg, Swabia, in order to fulfil the high standards of our KW quality management. The S3 8Y intake manifold is a complete redesign of the standard intake manifold right up to the turbo inlet. Taking inspiration from our RS3 intake, we have made the most of the available space to create an intake that is suitable for all power levels, from standard equipment through to high performance systems with hybrid or full frame turbos. This intake system has been developed to provide the highest possible flow rate while achieving the lowest possible intake temperatures. Each component has been designed to give the turbo a smooth and clear flow path. The restrictive standard intake pipe with a diameter of 73 mm is replaced by an intake pipe with a larger diameter of 94 mm. The filter itself has an outer diameter of 192mm or 7.5? with a filter area of over 110,000mm^2. The patented Venturi housing is designed to provide the largest possible internal volume for the space available in the Golf engine bay and provides laminar flow to the turbo pipe. Finally, the duct seals the filter opening at the windshield, but is not restricted by the stock intake alone. The resulting system can significantly outflow the stock airbox while keeping intake temperatures to a minimum with the sealed design.
Dyno testingOur MK8 Golf intake has been independently tested by a renowned tuner in the UK, Regal Autosport. A MK8 Golf R was tested in original condition and with a tuning box. The tests were carried out on the same day, with the standard airbox being tested first and then the Eventuri. No other changes were made to the car. The first graph shows the results with a stock map. As you can see, there is a measurable gain across the rev range of up to 12 hp. This gain is noticeable even in a standard vehicle on the road due to better throttle response and faster acceleration. The tuning box was used for both the stock airbox and the Eventuri intake without any changes being made between tests. With a higher flow requirement, the stock airbox places a greater restriction on the turbo, which is evident by the significant gain achieved with the Eventuri fitted. We now have a power increase of up to 20 hp and 30 Nm across the entire rev range, which is even more noticeable on the road. We expect the gains to be even greater with higher tuning levels.
The improvements are due to a combination of reasons:1) The closed system keeps IAT levels low - the Golf's engine bay can heat up very quickly, so an open cone filter leads to an increase in IAT levels and therefore a loss of power.2) The Venturi housing provides a smooth transition from the filter to the intake pipes, both of which are matched to an internal diameter of 94mm. This contributes to a more efficient operation of the turbo.3) The entire system is made of pure pre-impregnated carbon fiber, which provides excellent insulation against heat and has smooth inner surfaces, unlike fiberglass, which has sharp resin lines.
