All models built after 2018 have a temperature sensor. There are therefore two different products for both engine variants. The G20/G21 B48 Eventuri intake system was developed to provide the turbo with a less restrictive flow path while maintaining low intake temperatures. When designing an intake system for turbocharged engines, the focus is on heat and volume. On the G20, the intake system is located next to the exhaust manifold, which quickly fills the engine bay with heat. High temperatures have a detrimental effect on engine performance as the turbo would have to be charged with heated, less dense air, so the only way to minimise IATs is to have a fully sealed intake. However, this leads to a restriction with only one supply air inlet from which air is drawn. During development, we identified an additional opening in the wheel arch area and took advantage of this by adding a second intake to our airbox. In addition, our sealed airbox also features a gold reflective heat shield to minimise radiant heat transfer from the exhaust manifold. To maximise volume, we have made the airbox as large as possible with a recess for potential strut bracing. The standard corrugated intake pipe has been replaced with a smooth carbon pipe, which also has a larger internal volume with an initial internal diameter of 111 mm (4.4") and tapers gently downwards to match the turbo inlet. The pipe provides a smooth path from the filter to the turbo inlet. Finally, we use a customised high-flow dry filter that is ISO-tested for filtration performance and has a larger filter area than the standard filter.
