Indirect charge air cooling is used in the S55 engine. With indirect charge air cooling, the charge air is cooled by a low-temperature coolant circuit. The low-temperature coolant circuit is then cooled again by the drive air via two air-coolant heat exchangers. A reduced cooling water temperature directly improves the cooling performance of the intercooler.
The CSF heat exchanger is installed as an upgrade to the original main heat exchanger and is the largest "drop-in-fit" heat exchanger available on the market for the S55 engine.
The CSF heat exchanger has a massive 2-row 42 mm double core with 2x 45 rows and CSF's exclusive B-Tube technology. The B-Tube technology alone enables an increase in cooling efficiency of over 15% compared to the traditional O-tube design of the original heat exchanger. As an OEM supplier with state-of-the-art production machinery, CSF is able to install an extremely efficient fin height of only 6.5 mm for maximum surface contact. The dual-pass flow structure allows the coolant to flow through the core of the radiator twice before exiting the radiator for the lowest possible outlet temperature. The frontal cooling surface increases by ~ 27% compared to the original heat exchanger.
Equipped with CNC machined "Quick-Connect" inlet/outlet connections as well as CNC machined brackets and fittings, the CSF heat exchanger is a direct replacement for the original radiator. It can be connected directly and easily to all original hoses, and no grilles, covers or other parts need to be cut or modified - making it a 1:1 replacement. Also ideal as a replacement for accident vehicles or vehicles with a defect. (Please note that various modifications to the plastic parts are required to fit the larger, 50-row Race heat exchanger).
In addition, the CSF heat exchanger is equipped with a practical drain plug, which the original system does not have! A stone guard is also included in the scope of delivery. This ensures the greatest possible protection against stone chips in the radiator network. Thanks to thermodynamically optimised anti-corrosion vapour deposition, CSF guarantees maximum quality and durability - this is underlined by the lifetime product guarantee.
The radiator is available as "polished chrome" or in a plain black colour.
