Our E9X carbon ducts are a direct replacement for the OEM plastic ducts to add the finishing touches to the engine bay. These ducts are made from prepreg carbon and match the rest of our E9X range for the ultimate OEM+ theme. We have also replaced the flexible connector between the ducts and the airbox with an EPDM coupling with our raised V logo. During development we considered adding air scoops to the front duct, but after analysis we realised that there was no performance benefit due to the small opening between the ducts and the airbox, so we decided not to add air scoops. This also leaves the grill openings clear for optimum flow to the radiator. The Eventuri carbon ducts are available in both gloss and matte finishes to match our plenum, intake and airbox lid. Made from 100% high quality prepreg carbon including the inner trumpets, this air collector replaces the stock plastic version and unleashes the roar of the naturally aspirated V8 engine.As the trumpet lengths are tuned to the inner volume, changing this setting can result in a loss of power, so we have kept the same volume so as not to affect the way the car drives in terms of power delivery. Although there is no performance gain from the carbon plenum, the intake noise produced takes the driving experience to a whole new level. We went through several iterations with different material thicknesses to fine tune the sound, and the resulting plenum produces an almost unbelievable intake sound! This plenum can be used with the OEM airbox or any other aftermarket intake system, including our own Eventuri intake systems for a real performance boost. The main aspects are the balance between aerodynamic efficiency and air intake temperature. An open system was chosen but with differences to other aftermarket airboxes. This can be recognised by the shape of the carbon housing and the position and shape of the air filter, and the airbox is manufactured using the prepreg carbon process. The flow path from the filters to the turbo inlets is very direct and does not change direction as abruptly as the usual OEM airbox designs. So instead of a completely new design, we focused on improving the OEM airbox with less restrictive flow and improved temperature efficiency. We developed replacement filters made of non-woven fabric, which have a much higher flow rate compared to the paper filters. To lower air intake temperatures and force air into the airbox, we designed large front vanes that sit behind the grilles. The carbon vanes direct air into the ducts and effectively insulate the intake side of the airbox. The final piece is the carbon airbox lid, which doesn't increase performance, but allows for a more audible intake sound and gives the engine bay a much needed aesthetic improvement.
