The F56 MINI Eventuri intake system is another example of our "complete system" principle.
It is a closed system that ensures that the turbo does not draw in hot air from the engine bay, but is enriched with a functional bonnet scoop that forces ambient air into the intake duct. This duct has a larger internal volume than the standard version and also draws in air from the storage space above the radiator. The combination of a closed system with an air scoop results in lower intake temperatures than the standard airbox and prevents heat ingress, which is a common problem especially on higher performance MINIs. To ensure the smoothest possible flow, we use our patented filter housing in conjunction with a CNC machined MAF pipe to ensure the smoothest possible flow to the turbo. The OEM intake system draws air from behind the front grille, above the radiator. The openings for the intake of ambient air are relatively small and can therefore lead to heat build-up in the intake, especially on a tuned Mini. The OEM bonnet scoop does not supply air directly to the intake tract and as the bonnet already has 2 cut-outs under the scoop, we decided to utilise this feature and redesign the scoop. Our scoop is a direct replacement of the OEM part and snaps into place with the same mounting method. It has 2 intake ramps that direct the outside air into the intake duct through the existing cut-outs on the bonnet (see below). As the vehicle accelerates, more air is forced into the duct, minimising inlet temperatures and eliminating the problem of heat build-up.The scoop has a redesigned profile with a longer top surface to cover the openings, which also provides a more aggressive look. Made from 100% prepreg carbon fibre, the scoop offers incredible aesthetics for the vehicle. To further enhance the aesthetics, we used a V-shaped split weave with the carbon to create a symmetrical profile that works well and allows the scoop to sit in the centre of the cowl.

Carbon intake duct:
The OEM duct only takes in air behind the front grille and is very shallow over the slam panel. We redesigned the duct to let air in from the grill and also from the scoop. In addition, our duct has a much larger internal volume, allowing the intake system to breathe with less restriction. To protect from the heat of the engine bay, the duct is fitted with a flexible rubber ring around the openings on the underside of the bonnet, which seals with the bonnet when closed. It also has an expandable rubber edge around the opening to the filter housing, which ensures a good seal to the filter and allows movement with the engine.

Performance data:
Dyno tests were conducted on both a Cooper S and a JCW. The Cooper S had a stage 1 remap for the stock airbox and Eventuri. The JCW had a stage 2 remap and downpipe for the stock airbox and Eventuri. The Cooper S showed a peak gain of about 8hp and 11ft-lb of torque, but higher mid-range gains of 15hp and 25ft-lb of torque with a good gain through the rev range. Similarly, the Stage 2 JCW saw peak gains of 15hp, but much higher mid-range gains of 27hp and 26ft-lb of torque with a very good power gain throughout the rev range. These power gains were measured after changing only the stock air box for the Eventuri intake - all other changes were present for both the stock air box and the Eventuri intake.

The gains measured on the dyno translate to increased part-throttle and full-throttle behaviour on the road, with the car pulling much more eagerly to the redline. Testing was conducted back-to-back on the same day and temperatures were monitored.

The S5/S4 engine bay heats up very quickly, so an open system would result in better airflow but at higher inlet temperatures. Therefore, the airflow path from the front grille to the turbo inlet has been completely redesigned with a highly efficient, sealed system. The restrictive OEM airbox and the flexible plastic pipe have been replaced by a Venturi filter housing and a duct system with smooth transitions. In addition, by removing the pleated OEM pipe and replacing the filter with our patented one-piece venturi housing and rigid pipe, the airflow is much smoother as it enters the turbo inlet. The resulting increase in performance and aesthetics are ground-breaking innovations for this platform. The Eventuri difference The B9 S4/S5 Eventuri system uses our patent-pending carbon fibre housings with our bespoke Gen 2 filter, providing an aerodynamically efficient airflow path from the filter to the inlets. Not just another filter with a heat shield, but a unique design that creates the Venturi effect. The intake was VBOX tested on the road to record acceleration from 60-130mph (and 100-200Km/h). The tests were carried out on the same track - and on the same day to minimise the variables. The results show that acceleration times from 60-130mph have reduced by almost 0.5 seconds, which is a significant improvement at such speeds. This shows that the gains measured on the dyno are not representative of how the intake behaves on the road when it has the correct flow conditions - on the road the intake shows a greater gain by reducing acceleration times compared to the dyno. Summary of acceleration results: 60-130mph with original airbox = 14.72 seconds 60-130mph with Eventuri intake = 14.24 seconds 100-200mph with original airbox = 12.45 seconds 100-200mph with Eventuri intake = 12.12 seconds The improvements result from a combination of reasons: 1) The closed system keeps IATs low - especially with the front air scoop forcing air into the system. 2) The venturi housing provides a smooth transition from the filter to the intake manifold without friction. By replacing the single standard airbox with individual patented Venturi filter housings, the turbos can spool and generate lift with less drag. As a result, wastegate duty cycles are reduced, resulting in peak boost at lower engine speeds and therefore increased power. The two individual filters provide a larger filter area compared to the single plate filter. To keep intake air temperatures low, the venturi housings are also sealed against an air duct that draws in ambient air from the same location as the stock system. As the engine bay of the 911 Turbo is tightly packed, high IATs can only be avoided by a fully sealed intake system.
