By utilising our patented Venturi housing concept, the airflow can pass through the filters on a much less tortuous path, reducing the drag of the system. In addition, by increasing the total volume in the intake tract, the maximum flow capacity has also been increased. By using customised filters with an outer diameter of 192 mm or 7.5? and a filter surface area of over 110,000 mm^2 each, we have made optimum use of the available space. Intake air temperatures have also been minimised through a sealed system and the use of carbon fibre, which has a low coefficient of thermal conductivity across the wall thickness. The result is a real increase in performance and a noticeable improvement in throttle response. The Eventuri difference The 991 GT3 RS Eventuri system uses our patented carbon fibre housing, which provides an aerodynamically efficient airflow path from the filter to the engine. Flow tests We conducted flow tests using a Superflow SF-1020 to measure the maximum possible flow rate at a pressure drop of 28" H2O. The tests were performed on the same day under controlled conditions, using the same test fixture for each system. We tested our complete intake system compared to the stock airbox system. The results show an increase in maximum flow by an additional 120 CFM over the OEM airbox. Importantly, this was achieved with a sealed intake system so that intake temperatures are also kept to a minimum. Bench test Our GT3 RS intake was independently tested by ES Motors, who build high performance Porsches in the UK. The tests were carried out on a chassis dyno on the same day, one after the other. As you can see, there is a measurable gain across the rev range, not just at the peak, which is more important as the increased area under the graph shows that the intake has an impact beyond the headlines. This gain is noticeable even on a production car on the road through better throttle response and quicker acceleration. The flow path from the filters to the turbo inlets is very direct and does not change direction as abruptly as the usual OEM airbox designs. So instead of a completely new design, we focussed on improving the OEM airbox with less restrictive flow and improved temperature efficiency. We have developed replacement filters made of non-woven fabric, which have a much higher flow rate compared to the paper filters. To lower air intake temperatures and force air into the airbox, we designed large front vanes that sit behind the grilles. The carbon vanes direct air into the ducts and effectively insulate the intake side of the airbox. The final piece is the carbon airbox lid, which doesn't increase performance, but allows for a more audible intake sound and gives the engine bay a much needed aesthetic improvement. This system is a complete redesign of the stock airboxes with the aim of reducing pressure loss while increasing flow rate and keeping intake temperatures low. Since the stock cold air intakes are located at the front of the vehicle and the turbo intakes face the rear of the vehicle, the airflow must complete a 180-degree turn through each airbox, resulting in flow restriction. To overcome this problem, Eventuri have introduced an additional cold air intake from the cover plate, which allows a more direct flow path to the turbo inlets. The additional intakes allow the intake tract to have a higher flow rate while keeping the IAT low, and has the added benefit of no longer restricting the noise of the turbos. With the intakes now facing the cabin, the sounds of turbo flutter and depressurization are clearly audible, taking the driving experience to a new level. The Eventuri DifferenceThe Eventuri system for F9X, G09 uses their patenteda carbon fiber housing with their custom Gen 2 filters that provide an aerodynamically efficient airflow path from the filter to the turbos. It is not another cone filter with a heat shield, but a unique design that utilizes the Venturi effect and maintains laminar flow conditions to reduce the drag of the turbo. Bench testingThis intake has been independently bench tested by MSL Performance in the UK. The tests were carried out back to back with the standard airbox and multiple runs were made with each configuration. The tested vehicle was driven without the activated carbon filter in the standard airboxes. The results on the test bench show a consistent increase in power over a large part of the rev range, which is due to the turbos reaching maximum boost pressure earlier and operating with a lower wastegate duty cycle due to the higher efficiency of the intake system. The increase in power is reflected on the road in improved response at part and full throttle, with the car pulling much more eagerly to redline. The main aspects are the balance between aerodynamic efficiency and air intake temperature. An open system was chosen but with differences to other aftermarket airboxes. This can be recognised by the shape of the carbon housing and the position and shape of the air filter. The inverted cone-shaped filter, which is enclosed in a carbon housing, creates the so-called Venturi effect.
